San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office schedules community engagement meeting on AB 481

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office will hold a community engagement meeting on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The event is scheduled from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will take place in the Mokelumne Room at the Robert Cabral Agricultural Center, located at 2101 E Earhart Ave in Stockton.

According to the announcement, “The purpose of this meeting will be to address any questions or concerns members of the public might have in regard to AB 481. County Counsel will also be present at the meeting to assist with any questions.”

AB 481 requires law enforcement agencies in California to obtain approval from their governing bodies before acquiring certain types of equipment defined as military equipment. Agencies must also provide annual reports about such equipment and host public meetings for transparency and accountability.
