San Joaquin County Sheriff investigates mass shooting in Stockton

A mass shooting occurred near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in Stockton, resulting in 15 people being shot. Four individuals, aged 8, 9, 14, and 21, have died from their injuries.

Detectives remain at the scene with support from the California Department of Justice as they process evidence and continue to investigate. Authorities have indicated that the incident may have been targeted, but all possibilities are being considered.

In a statement released by investigators, they said: “We are grateful for the information that has already been coming in from the community, and we ask that it continue. With the tips, video, and witness accounts provided so far, detectives are actively working on suspect descriptions and moving toward identifying and locating the individuals responsible for this horrific act.”

Officials also expressed sympathy for those affected: “Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this devastating violence.”

Community members who have additional information or video footage related to the incident are urged to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators emphasized that cooperation from residents is important to advancing their work.

The sheriff’s office acknowledged assistance from several agencies including Manteca Police Department, Stockton Police Department, Tracy Police Department, Lathrop Police Department, Delta Police Department, University of Pacific Police Department, DAI, ATF, Stockton Unified School District Police, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Justice, and FBI.

Authorities stated: “Additional updates will be provided as soon as they can be confirmed.”
