Rep. Josh Harder, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 9th district since 2019, has made a series of public statements on social media this week calling for bipartisan action to address the nation’s housing shortage.

On May 12, Harder posted, “Everyone agrees we need housing reform. Let’s find a compromise on a package that unquestionably increases our housing supply. The Build America Caucus will continue to work to pass a deal that delivers on our nationwide housing needs.”

The following day, he continued his advocacy with another statement: “Incredibly exciting news, especially at a time when people are more pessimistic than ever that life will ever be affordable again. The key to restoring hope lies in building more!” (May 13).

On May 14, Harder highlighted recent legislative progress: “Fixing provisions that threatened our housing goals is exactly what we pushed for with 75 bipartisan Members just a few weeks ago – so excited it worked! Let’s get this across the finish line!”

Josh Harder, born in Turlock, California in 1986 and currently residing in Tracy, has been vocal about the need for policy solutions as concerns over affordable housing grow nationally. He is an alumnus of Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University.

His recent posts reflect growing calls within Congress and among advocacy groups for comprehensive measures aimed at expanding the country’s housing supply amid widespread affordability challenges.
