Rep. Josh Harder, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 9th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on May 8, 2026, highlighting bipartisan efforts to address what he describes as systemic issues in Washington regarding housing and infrastructure.
In his first post, Harder stated, “Over the last year, we’ve brought together Members across the political spectrum who agree on something Washington too often forgets: The process is broken. Permitting takes too long. Housing is too expensive. Infrastructure costs too much. Energy demand is growing faster” (May 8, 2026).
He continued by emphasizing legislative action: “We’ve championed the largest housing legislation in a generation and led the charge against Section 901 which would limit single-family home supply.” (May 8, 2026).
Addressing broader challenges in development projects and affordability, Harder added: “That means taking on the bottlenecks that stop good projects before they ever break ground. It means treating housing, energy, transportation, and infrastructure as connected pieces of the same affordability crisis.” (May 8, 2026).
Josh Harder has represented California’s 9th District since defeating Jeff Denham in 2019. Born in Turlock in 1986 and currently residing in Tracy at age 36, Harder holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.
