Rep. Josh Harder, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 9th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on September 19, 2025, outlining his support for new legislation aimed at restricting business activities by public officials.
In one post dated September 19, 2025, Harder stated: “No side hustles in the White House. Running a business while running the country is a CLEAR conflict of interest. This bill makespublic office a full-time job.”
In another post from the same day, he added: “Foreign side deals? Off the table. Backroom contracts with foreign powers undermine America’s security. This bill makes sure our leaders aren’t negotiating for themselves behind closed doors.”
A third statement reiterated his stance on international business dealings by government leaders: “Global business deals? Banned. When presidents cut overseas business deals, it puts private profit ahead of national interest. This bill makes sure that never happens again.”
Josh Harder has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Jeff Denham in 2019 and currently resides in Tracy, California. Born in Turlock in 1986 and now aged 36, Harder holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.
The proposed legislative measures reflect ongoing debates about conflicts of interest and transparency among elected officials.
