Rep. Josh Harder, who represents California’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, has addressed his community regarding a recent shooting in Stockton and advocated for major housing reform.

On December 1, 2025, Harder called on the public to assist law enforcement with information about the incident: “If you have any information about this weekend’s terrible shooting, please reach out to local law enforcement at (209) 946-0600.”

Two days later, on December 3, he spoke about the tragedy in Congress: “Today I spoke in Congress about the heartbreaking loss our Stockton community is suffering after this weekend’s shooting. We are praying for the four lives lost and holding their families in our hearts.”

Later that day, Harder also highlighted a legislative priority: “(1/3) ROAD to Housing is the most significant housing reform package in decades and critical to speeding up building and driving down housing costs. We need to get this signed into law ASAP.”

Harder has represented California’s 9th District since 2019, succeeding Jeff Denham. Born in Turlock in 1986 and now residing in Tracy, Harder holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.
