Rep. Josh Harder, who represents California’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media between November 29 and December 1, 2025, addressing both community support initiatives and a tragic mass shooting in Stockton.

On November 29, Harder encouraged local engagement with area businesses, writing: “Make sure to support our amazing small businesses here in San Joaquin Co this weekend. Happy Small Business Saturday!”

Following news of violence in the region, Harder expressed his condolences on November 30: “I’m devastated at news of a mass shooting in Stockton, and Pam and I are praying for the victims and their families. My office is carefully monitoring this situation and in close contact with local law enforcement.”

He provided further details on December 1 about the impact of the incident: “The past 24 hours have been incredibly difficult for our Stockton community. Pam and I are heartbroken. We lost four lives last night in a senseless shooting, including 3 children. Many more are injured and in the hospital.

We have multiple families living through the worst”

Josh Harder has served as U.S. Representative for California’s 9th District since replacing Jeff Denham in 2019. Born in Turlock, California, in 1986, Harder currently resides in Tracy and holds degrees from Stanford University (2008) and Harvard University (2014).
